AL Candidate Khan Ahmed Shuvo wins Tangail-7 by-polls

Rulling Awami League Candidate Khan Ahmed Shuvo unofficially won the by-polls to Tangail-7 (Mirzapur), defeating Jatiya Party (JP) Jahirul Islam Jahir on Sunday (January 16).

Khan Ahmed Shuvo secured 1,04,059 votes with the boat symbol while his nearest contester Jahirul Islam Jahir got 16,773 votes with the plough symbol.

Returning Officer (RO) Shahedunnabi Chwodhury confirmed the matter.

Golam Nawjab Power (hammer), of Workers Party of Bangladesh got 1,045 votes, Rupa Roy Chowdhury (green coconut) of Bangladesh Congress 438 votes and Independent Candidate Nurul Islam Nuru (car) 2,436 votes.

Mentionable, the parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of Awami League lawmaker Ekabbar Hossain on November 16 last year.
