Ashish Roy lands in jail, bail hearing on Apr 10

A Dhaka court has sent Ashish Roy Chowdhury alias Botol Chowdhury, prime accused in a case filed for murdering popular film hero Sohel Chowdhury 24 years ago, to jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor passed the order on Thursday (April 7).
At the same time, the court fixed April 10 for bail hearing in the case.
Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gulshan police station Shamim Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Ashish Roy before the court in the case filed under the Narcotics Control Act. He appealed to the court to keep him confined in jail until the investigation into the case concludes.
Earlier on the night of April 5, RAB-10 in a drive arrested Ashish Roy Chowdhury alias Botol Chowdhury (63), the number one accused in the charge sheet of the case, from a house at Gulshan in the capital.
During the drive, 22 bottles of foreign liquor, 14 bottles of soda water, an iPad, credit cards of 16 different banks, two iPhones and Tk2 lakh in cash were recovered from the house.
Following the recovery of the drugs, RAB-10 DAD Jahangir Alam filed a case with Gulshan police station under the Narcotics Control Act on the night.
