US citizen arrested with 7Kgs gold gives confessional statement

US citizen Shahnaz Chowdhury who was arrested with nearly 7kgs gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has given confessional statement to the court.

Members of Airport Police Station produced her before the court on Sunday (April 24) after her three-day remanded ended and filed a petition to record her statement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanto Islam Mallik recorded her statement and sent her to jail.

Earlier, a Dhaka court placed Shahnaz Chowdhury on a three-day remand on April 20.

On April 19, Dhaka Customs House arrested Shahnaz Chowdhury from boarding bridge no 7 of the airport and seized 59 gold bars weighting 6.8kgs worth Tk around 5 crore from her possession.
