Holy Shab-e-Qadr tonight

The holy Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Lailatul Qadr, will be observed across the country tonight.

On this night, the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Muslim devotees will pass the night offering special prayers, reciting the holy Quran, holding zikr and other religious rituals, seeking blessings of almighty Allah for long life, peace and progress for themselves, their families, relatives, friends as well as the nation and the Muslim Ummah.

According to the holy Quran, the night is better than 1,000 nights as the angels and the spirit descend therein, by the permission of almighty Allah with all decrees.

This is one of the holiest and most blessed nights which is likely to occur on one of the odd number nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th of the holy month.

Devotees, on the nights, usually visit graveyards to seek eternal blessings for the departed souls of their near and dear ones.

For Muslims, the entire month of Ramadan is a period of spiritual training. Besides fasting, they devote themselves to praying, reciting the holy Quran and offering charity.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the countrymen and the Muslim Ummah across the world on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Qadr.

In separate messages, they prayed for continuous peace, progress and prosperity of the country, the whole world and the Muslim Ummah.

Muslims across the country are set to observe the holy Shab-e-Qadr or Lailatul Qadr tonight when the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Nightlong special prayers will be held at homes and mosques across the country throughout the holy night.

President M Abdul Hamid, in his message, said Lailatul Qadr is a holy night for the entire mankind, which is better than thousands of nights.

“The importance and significance of Lailatul Qadr is huge as Almighty Allah revealed the holy Quran on this night. This night brings us the opportunity to gain the ‘Neki’ of more than thousands of months of worship in our temporary life,” he said.

The head of the state prayed to Almighty Allah for the forgiveness, blessings, prosperity and welfare to all on this glorious night.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the teachings of the Holy Qur’an show the mankind the way to material happiness as well as salvation in the hereafter.

The premier said Almighty Allah has given a unique status to the night, while infinite mercy and blessings of Allah pour in mankind on the night.

“Through worship on this holy night, we can gain nearness to Almighty Allah. We can achieve his infinite mercy, salvation, blessing and forgiveness,” she added.

“Let us all pray to Almighty Allah to save the people of Bangladesh and the world from the transmission of the novel coronavirus,” she said.

Newspapers have published special articles while state-run Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private television channels are telecasting special programmes highlighting the significance of Lailatul Qadr.
