Crescent moon not sighted, Eid on Tuesday

Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on Tuesday (May 03) as the crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted on Sunday (May 01) evening.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after reviewing reports.

The national mosque will hold five Eid jamaats with the first being held at 7am.

Islamic Foundation Bangladesh revealed the schedule in a press release on Saturday.

The first Eid Jamaat will be followed by three more at the top of each hour till 10am. The last one will be at 10:45am.

Meanwhile, the first Eid Jamaat at the National Eidgah in Dhaka will commence at 8:30am.
