Road crashes claim 30 lives in 11 districts 

At least 30 people were killed in road crashes in 11 districts across the country from dawn to dusk on Saturday (July 16).

The districts are: Tangail, Sirajganj, Bogura, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Brahmanbaria, Gazipur, Nilphamari, Chattogram, Dinajpur and Jhenidah.

Tangail: At least eight people including three of a family were killed in separate road crashes in the district’s Mirzapur and Jamurki area. Some nine people also sustained injuries in the road crashes.

Sirajganj: A Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Kushtia hit two trucks at Khalkola area of Tarash upazila of the district, leaving four people killed on Saturday noon.

Bogura: A collision between a private car and a pick up van left four, including father and son, killed at Kaliapukur area on Bogura-Santahar highway of Kahalu upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

Habiganj: Three passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed as a passenger bus rammed it at Aushkandi area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway of Nabiganj upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

Mymensingh: A truck ran over three members of a family at Trishal on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway of the district on Saturday noon.

The deceased include a woman who gave to a baby girl on the road just before breathing her last.

The deceased were known as Jahangir Alam, 42, of Raimoni area, his pregnant wife Ratna Akter and his their six-year-old daughter Sanjida.

Brahmanbaria: Two persons including driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed as a private car hit the auto-rickshaw at Uzanisar area of the district’s sadar upazila on Saturday morning.

Gazipur: Separate road crashes claimed two lives at Basugaon of Pubail and Sukundibag bridge area of the same area on Saturday.

Nilphamari: A van driver was killed as a speedy truck ran over his van at Bottola Shantinagar area of Jaldhaka upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

Chattogram: A woman was killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a pick up van at Mirzahat area under Bhujpur Police Station of the district on Saturday morning.

Dinajpur: A motorcycle rider was killed as a truck hit his motorbike at Khansama upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

Jhenidah: A farmer was killed as truck ran him over at Pirojpur of Kaliganj upazila on Jhenidah-Jashore highway of the district Saturday morning.
