Maritime ports asked to keep hoisted signal 3

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.

A special met office release signed by meteorologist Bazlur Rashid informed this on Friday.

The Bay of Bengal has remained very rough under the influence of low pressure in the Bay.

Meanwhile, low-lying areas of the coastal districts may be inundated by irregular tidal waters (from two to three feet high).

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over southern part of Bangladesh,”  said the met office release.

All fishing boats and trawlers have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
