ASI, cohorts land in jail for trapping man in fake case

An assistant sub-inspector of Pallabi Police Station and his two informants were sent to jail in a case filed over trapping a man in fake drug case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah passed the order after hearing on Sunday (September 11).

The accused are - ASI Mahbubul Alam and his informants Mohammad Rubel and Sohel Rana.

Earlier, Md Anwar Hossain, a Sub-inspector of Cantonment Police Station produced the accused before the court and pleaded to keep them behind bars.

According to the case statement, the policeman in plain clothes reportedly put Yaba pills into a pedestrian’s pocket and showed him arrested in a drug case.  Later, the incident of framing Khalil was recorded on camera by a private TV channel and the report went viral on social media.
