BB bans virtual coin trading

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has banned holding or trading of any kind of virtual coin or cryptocurrency like Bitcoin in the country.

The Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (September 16).

It has also sent letters to all banks, financial institutions, MFS institutions and all other institutions related to foreign exchange.

The letters have asked them to ensure that such transactions cannot be done.

In July of last year, Bangladesh Bank said it does not allow holding or trading of any kind of virtual coin or cryptocurrency in the country.
