Shimu murder: Charge sheet accepted against husband, his friend

A Dhaka court has accepted charge sheet in a case filed against slain actor Raima Islam Shimu’s husband Khandaker Shakhawat Alim Nobel and his friend SMY Abdullah Farhad.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Rajib Hasan accepted the charge sheet on Sunday (September 18).

Chief Judicial Magistrate Court’s Additional Public Prosecutor Anwar Kabir Babul confirmed this to the media.

Earlier, on January 17, Shimu’s dismembered body was found in gunny sacks near the Hazratpur Bridge at Keraniganj.

Police said the body was recovered after locals reported the matter. 

The victim’s brother Shahidul Islam Khokon identified the body at the Mitford Hospital and started a case against six people, including Noble and his friend Farhad.

Later, police arrested Nobel and Farhad.

Investigators found that Nobel had been long involved in a feud with his wife over domestic matters.

On January 21, Khandaker Shakhawat Alim Nobel gave a confessional statement saying that he, along with his friend SMY Abdullah Farhad, killed his wife Raima Islam Shimu over domestic dispute.
