‘New law being enacted to prevent misuse of antibiotics’

The health minister Zahid Maleque said, the government is going to enact a new law to prevent misuse of antibiotics.

The minister said this while addressing a press briefing in the capital on Tuesday noon (October 4).

He said that no pharmacies will be allowed to sell antibiotics without prescriptions of physicians and if they do so, their licenses will be revoked.

Zahid Maleque also said, the formulation of the Medicines Act-2022 is at the final stage. It will be taken up in Parliament for approval soon. After this, the law to control antibiotics will be passed.
