Metro rail free for children under 3-feet

Metro rail journey for the children with a height of 36-inch or below and with their parents is free.

M. A. N. Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited said this while addressing newsmen at Agargaon metro rail station in the capital on Tuesday (December 27).

He said that for now, direct trains will arrive at Agargaon station from Uttara Uttar station (Diabari). From March 26, journeys will be started at all intermediate stations.

Bangladesh is set to embark on a new era of commuting with a new mode of transport hitherto unseen on the land-the elevated metro rail of Dhaka. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been constructing the metro rail and providing soft loan to the project. The JICA gave Taka 19,500 crore for the project.
