BERC recommends raising power tariff by Tk1.21 per unit

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has recommended hiking the power price by Tk 1.21 per unit at the retail level.

This recommendation from the BERC came following a day-long public hearing at AKM Shamsul Haque Khan auditorim of BIAM foundation in the capital on Sunday (January 8).

BERC recommended raising retail electricity price by 15.43 percent. If the recommendation is implemented then, the user at the retail level will have to pay Tk 1.21 per unit more.

Earlier, on November 21 last year, the bulk power tariff was raised by 19.92 to Tk 6.20 per kilowatt hour (each unit) from previous Tk 5.17 with effect from March 3, 2022.
