College girl killed in road crash at Motijheel

Staff Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 8: A female student of Motijheel Ideal School and College was killed as a passenger bus hit the rickshaw she was riding in at the capital’s Shapla Chattar Friday afternoon.

The deceased Kaniz Fatema Tasnim, 17, daughter of Abdul Khaleque Howlader, was returning home after sitting for her term final examinations.

Witnesses said a passenger bus knocked the rickshaw at Shapla Chattar at around 4:45pm, leaving Tasnim and three others injured.

They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Tasnim died on arrival.

Confirming the death to reporters, inspector of DMCH police outpost Mozammel Haque said the three others who were injured are now out of danger.

“Police have seized the bus that killed Tasnim, but the driver managed to flee,” he added.
