Child dies after falling in bucket water

A 14-month-old child has died after falling in water of bucket at Shyampur of Kadamtoli in the capital on Sunday (January 29) noon.

The deceased was known as Afifa Akter, daughter of Kamal Hossain hailed from Char Singaria village under Palang upazila of Shariatpur.

Afifa’s uncle Mohammad Kabir Hossain said, “We reside on 3rd floor of a five-storey building on Mainuddin Road of Shyampur area. Afifa was not found at the noon when her mother had been cooking food. She was not found after searching different places. At one stage, she found in the bucket water of the bathroom. Her head was down in the water. She was whisked off immediately to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.”

DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge Bachchu Mia said, “The body of the child was kept in the morgue for autopsy. The matter was informed to Shympur police station.”
