Number of goats surpass cows in Bangladesh

The total number of goats has increased in comparison with cows in the country. The number of goats reached 2.68 crore while cows 2.47 crore.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim revealed the information while replying to a question in the parliament on Wednesday (February 1).

He said that the demand for meat in the country is 76 lakh 10 thousand metric tons.

To meet the demand for sacrificial animals from domestic sources, modern flattening technology was implemented in the country which led self-depended cattle market, the minister added.
