‘EC to announce poll schedule in November’

The 12th Parliament Elections will be held in the last week of December or the first week of January. The commission will announce the schedule in November. Besides, EVMs would be used in 50 to 70 seats.

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman said this while addressing a program at Bhedarganj of Shariatpur on Saturday noon (February 4).

He said the turnout was 46pc in Thakurgaon polls. People cast their votes ignoring the bitter cold. That inspired us.

The EC also said that we are going to organize the next election with the hope that we can encourage the voters to vote. The commission is planning to consider some other new steps. I hope big parties will join the elections.

Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Parvez Hasan, Police Super Saiful Haque, District Election Officer Sohel Samad, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, and others attended the function.
