Earthquake: Bangladesh to provide humanitarian aid to Turkey

A large number of people have been killed in the terrible earthquake in the Turkey-Syria border region. Following the terrible earthquake, the Bangladesh government is taking preparation to send humanitarian assistance according to the demand of Turkey.

Foreign ministry Spokesperson Seheli Sabrin said "We are planning to send two teams -- an emergency medical team and a rescue team -- to Turkey."

Foreign Ministry sources said a medical team will be sent to provide medical assistance to the large number of injured people in the country. It was decided to initially send a ten-member team. The matter of who will be on the team, what equipment and what medical supplies will be taken, is being decided upon. The rescue team may be sent to Turkey tonight or tomorrow.

Earlier, the magnitude 7.8 quake hit Turkey and neighbouring Syria early on Monday. The earthquake killed more than 5,000 people in the two countries.
