One gets death penalty for killing woman

A man named Ariful Haque Shiplu, 39, has been awarded with death penalty for raping and killing a housewife named Rashida Akhter, 25, in the capital’s Cantonment area.

Judge of Dhaka Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Sabera Sultana Khanom handed down the verdict on Thursday.

The court has also fined him Tk 20,000.

According to the case statement, Shiplu stabbed Rashida to death after rape. On February 10, 2018, Rashida’s father Lutfor Rahman filed a case with Cantonment Thana.

Ariful Haque Shiplu is the son of Mosharraf Hossain at Kamalpur under Kosba Thana in Brahmanbaria.
