UNO does not have sole authority over UP chairman: HC

The High Court (HC) canceled Section 33 of the Upazila Parishad Act regarding the post of Chief Executive Officer.

As a result of this HC verdict, the lawyers said that the UNOs did not have the sole authority over the chairmen of the Upazila Parishad.

A High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ahmed Sohail announced the verdict on Wednesday (March 29).

The court gave this verdict after hearing the ruling issued asking to know how the UNOs became the chairpersons of different standing committees of the Upazila Parishad, excluding the chairmen of the Upazila Parishad.
