Saudi bus crash: Death toll of Bangladeshi pilgrims rises to 18

The death toll of Bangladeshi umrah pilgrims from Monday's bus crash in Saudi Arabia reached 18 as five more deaths were reported by the foreign ministry Wednesday (March 29).
Md Arifuzzaman, first secretary of labour at the Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah, confirmed the news.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, son of Shariat Ullah in Senbagh, Noakhali district; Mamun Mia, son of Abdul Awal, of Muradnagar in Cumilla; Mohammad Helal Uddin, of Noakhali; Sabuj Hossain of Laxmipur; Rasel Mollah, of Muradnagar in Cumilla; Md Asif, of Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar; Md Imam Hossain Rony, son of Abdul Latif, of Tongi in Gazipur; Ruku Mia, son of Kalu Mia, of Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria; Shafatul Islam, of Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar; Gias Hamid, of Debidwar in Cumilla; Mohammad Nazrul Islam of Katwali in Jashore; Mohammad Hossain, son of Kader Hossain, of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar; Khairul Islam, Ruhul Amin, Tushar Mazumdar, Miraz Hossain, Sakib and Rana Mia.
The bus carrying 34 Bangladesh nationals among 47 Umrah pilgrims was on way to Mecca. The accident occurred in Saudi Arabia’s Asir province - around 650 km away from Jeddah - around 4:00 PM on Monday.
