Transport of trucks and covered vans on the ferries will remain suspended for seven days during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said this while talking to journalists after a meeting on Thursday.
Transport of trucks and covered vans by ferries will remain stopped three days before and three days after Eid. Movement of all sand-laden bulkheads will also be restricted in the same period, he said.
The Eid-ul-Fitr’s scheduled date is April 22, and the restrictions will be effective following the Eid day, he said.
In replaying to a question, he said as no motorcycle will be allowed to ply on the Padma Bridge, we are thinking of alternative ways for its movement.
