As per the rules of Bangladesh Railways, a passenger could buy tickets in advance five days before the train journey. However, this policy has temporarily been changed for the convenience of passengers on the occasion of Eid. Bangladesh Railway is selling train tickets 10 days in advance from Saturday (April 1).
From April 1, tickets for intercity trains will be sold in advance 10 days prior to departure. However, on April 1, advance tickets will be sold for April 5 to April 11 to accommodate the timing change decision. The 10-day advance ticket system will be effective from April 2.
Ticket sales started from 8:00 am on Saturday (April 1) at the counter and online simultaneously. That is, there is no separate quota online or over the counter. All tickets will be sold online only from April 17 to April 30 as per Eid advance and return ticket schedule.
Compulsory Name of Passenger on Train Ticket:
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway has made the name of the fellow travelers mandatory in the purchase of tickets to implement the policy of ‘Ticket whose journey it is’. Henceforth, the names of fellow passengers must be mentioned through whose account tickets are purchased. This has been informed in a post on the Facebook page of Shohoz-Synesis-Vincen JV, a subsidiary of railway ticket sales company called ‘Rail Seba’.
Names of fellow passengers (providing their National Identity Card/Photo ID) have been made mandatory to complete the ticket purchase process from April 7 onwards, the post said. All passengers must carry their NID/Photo ID while travelling.
