The government decided not to give any extra security (escort) to foreign ambassadors of some countries at the government expense. But there is rumor being heard that the government is returning the escort services to the ambassadors.
Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen has claimed that the rumor is not truth.
The minister said this at a publication ceremony of Bangladesh Health Watch held at the International Mother Language Institute on Saturday (May 27).
He said, “There is no shortage in the security of ambassadors in Bangladesh and never was it”.
The government decided not to give extra security (escort) to envoys of six countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, India and Saudi Arabia at the government expense as the law and order situation is very good in Bangladesh, he said.
However, foreign diplomats can hire escorts at their own expense. In this case, they can receive the escort service of the Ansar Battalion, he mentioned.
The government does not feel any pressure for the new US visa policy. It is matter of that country, they will give visa to whom.
