‘No other govt except Sheikh Hasina thinks about welfare of Islam’

Information and Broadcasting and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said no other government except Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thinks about the welfare of Islam and Alem society.

The minister said this while addressing a discussion on “The role of alem-ulama in building prosperous Bangladesh” at state minister for religious affairs residence in city's Baily Road on Tuesday (May 30).

Urging all to cast their votes to 'Boat', the electoral symbol of Awami League, Hasan said the government has recognized the Kwami madrasha, established mosques at district-upazila level and did works for betterment of Alems.

He said Zia had introduced bad culture of alcohol and gambling after capturing power while Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has saved the nation from those, he added.

State Minister for Youths and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel, National Mosque Baitul Mukarram Khatib Allama Ruhul Amin and former lawmaker Md Sirazul Islam, among others, addressed the discussion.
