Hyena bites off toddler’s hand at Nat’l zoo

A hyena has bit off a 2-year-old child's hand at Bangladesh National Zoo in Dhaka's Mirpur.

The incident took place on Thursday morning (June 8).

Confirming the matter, the zoon director Md Rafiqul Islam Talukdar said the child along with its family member went to visit the zoo from Gazipur's Ashulia around 11:00am. Meanwhile, the toddler got down from his mother's lap and ran towards the hyena's cage. The hyena attacked him when he put his hand inside.

The child was rushed to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedlc Rehabilitation immediately, he added.

Two separate probe committee have been formed in this regard.
