Cabinet secretary Md Mahbub Hossain has said that no special meeting has been held with the secretaries. The meeting was a regular meeting, he claims.

Cabinet secretary came up with this response when he was asked over it after the meeting at the cabinet conference room at the Secretariat on Monday (July 24).

Later, he talked to the reporters and said, “No discussion over the directions for the upcoming general election was held in the meeting. It was not any special meeting, rather a general one. It was scheduled to be held tomorrow. The meeting was called today as I have another programme at that time. That’s why the meeting was brought ahead.”

He said, “No special directives were made from us. We discussed the matters in the meeting what we generally do. There were many proposals, some recruitment rules, the issue of approving the organogram - we discussed the matter.”

He further said, “We made a recruitment policy for the government hospitals. We did not give nod to a proposal of the Ministry of Industry. We said it needs to go through law and advised to enact the law.”

When asked over election agenda, he replied, “The meeting never discusses such kind of agenda. No separate secretary meeting was held.”

Whether any discussion was made on how the field level administration will work before the election, he came with response that ‘no, no, no’ not such kind of matter was discussed. There was an issue of creating posts in educational institutions brought under nationalisation.
