Train crosses Padma Bridge

The trial run of a special train on Mawa-Bhanga section has crossed through the Padma Bridge.
Around 10:15am, a train left Kamalapur Railway Station for Bhanga.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the route officially on October 10.
Under the fast-track project, Bangladesh Railway is constructing a 169km rail link from capital Dhaka to ancient southwestern town of Jashore through Padma multi-purpose bridge to reap the full benefit of the mega infrastructure project.
The government is spending a staggering Tk 392.47 billion where China Exim Bank is providing Tk 210.37 billion and the rest of the money is being borne from the state coffer.
Chinese government-nominated contractor China Railway Group Limited, known as CREC, is implementing the project under China G2G system as per the loan contract.
So far, the whole project from Dhaka to Jashore has seen 82 percent progress and in on track to be opened by 2024, project officials informed.
