Bangladesh welcomes ICJ ruling in favour of Guyana

Bangladesh has welcomed the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in favour of Guyana.

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen came up with the comment while chairing the virtual meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Group on Guyana (CMGG) held on the sidelines of the 78th UNGA on Sunday in New York.

The foreign minister mentioned that Bangladesh is pleased to continue in the role of the substantive chair of the Commonwealth Ministerial Group on Guyana.

Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland delivered opening remarks while Consul General at the Guyana Consulate General in New York Ambassador Michael E. Brotherson provided an update on recent developments.

The Ministers of CMGG took part in the discussion session and agreed to prepare a concluding statement to convey to the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, to be held on 21st September 2023.
