Charles Whiteley, the EU ambassador in Bangladesh, has sent a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal through the foreign ministry.
Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam informed about this to journalists at the EC headquarters at Agargaon in the city on Thursday.
He said that the head of the European Union in Dhaka has informed through e-mail that their Bangladesh office has taken such a decision as the financial matter of sending election observers in the fiscal year 2023-24 has been rejected. As a result, they have decided not to send an observation team for now.
