8 more die from dengue

8 more dengue patients died across the country in the past 24 hours till Thursday (September 21), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 875.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 2,889 new dengue patients were hospitalised.

During the period, 789 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city while 2,100 were admitted to different hospitals outside it, the DGHS daily statement added.

With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 1,79,699, the statement said, adding: This year, some 1,68,544 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients.

A total of 10,280 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 3,696 are in Dhaka while 6,584 are outside of the capital city, it added.
