We have no say about visa policy: EC Anisur Rahman

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman has said, “We have nothing to do regarding the visa policy imposed by the United States of America. Even we have no say about this as it is the affair of the government. After assuming the office, we have said that we want to hold a free, fair and participatory election and are working accordingly.”

He said this while replying to a question of journalists at a smartcard distribution programme in Gazipur’s Sreepur on Tuesday (September 26).

The election commissioner said, “The schedule of next national elections will be announced in the first week of November and elections will be held in the first week of January. There is a constitutional obligation to end the next parliamentary elections by January 29, 2024.”
