President for flourishing tourism sector retaining environmental balance

President Mohammed Shahabuddin urged all concerned to carry out development activities in the tourism industry maintaining and preserving the environmental balance and the cultural heritage of the country.

In a message issued on the occasion of ‘World Tourism Day-2023’ on Tuesday (September 26), the President said, “I welcome the initiative of observing the ‘World Tourism Day-2023’ from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism in the country like elsewhere in the world.”

The World Tourism Day is being observed in the country today (September 27) highlighting the environment-friendly investment in the tourism sector.

“I think this year’s theme of the day ‘Environment-friendly Investment in Tourism’ will encourage for building sustainable future”, he said.

In his message, the President said Bangladesh has enormous potential to develop tourism industry and urged all the public and private stakeholders to carry out development activities in the tourism industry maintaining and preserving the environmental balance and the cultural heritage of the country.

If the tourism industry develops in these regions, employment opportunities will be created for a large number of people, which will become an important regulator in the development of the people’s living standards and the development of the economy, he added.

Noting that Bangladesh is a land of scenic natural beauty with rich culture and heritage, President Shahabuddin said magnificent natural beauty, rich history and diverse culture have made Bangladesh a unique tourist destination with multidimensional attractions.

The President said celebration of the World Tourism Day will encourage universal participation in tourism related activities as well as realizing the importance of the tourism industry in economic and social development.

The President urged all, including government and non-government organizations, to work together for the development of the tourism industry as well as for the national economic development upholding local culture, traditions and values.

He said tourism related public and private entrepreneurs and institutions must work in a coordinated and planned way for advancement of tourism industry.

The President wished all-out success of the programmes marking the day.
