Dengue deaths near 1000-mark

14 more dengue patients died across the country in the past 24 hours till Saturday (September 30), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 989.

According to a statement of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 2,425 new dengue patients were hospitalised.

During the period, 751 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city while 1,674 were admitted to different hospitals outside the capital city, the DGHS daily statement added.

With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 2,03,406, the statement said.  This year, some 1,92,458 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients.

A total of 9,959 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 3,379 are in Dhaka while 6,580 are outside of the capital city, it added.
