New militant outfit Tawheed Al-Uluhiyyah emerged: ATU

A new militant outfit ‘Tawheed Al-Uluhiyyah’ (Al-Jihadi) has emerged in the country which has been operating its activities for 2-3 months.

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police in its drives has arrested three members of the new militant outfit from different parts of the country.

The ATU members arrested Jewel from Bagerhat, Rahul from Joypurhat and Gaziul Islam from the capital after conducting drives from September 13. Jewel was the chief of the new outfit while two others were the outfit’s top leaders.

DIG (Operations) of the ATU Abdul Alim Mahmud revealed this to reporters at a press briefing at the ATU Headquarters in the capital around 12pm on Saturday (September 16).

“The members of the organization had a plan to carry out major terror attacks in the country in 2024,” said the DIG.

“We came to know that the outfit has so far 80-90 members. We are yet to know about the real financer of the outfit,” he said.
