‘Not punishment, Faruque sacked due to gradual low performance’

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan summoned BCB President Faruque Ahmed to his residence and informed him about the leadership change. It was announced last Wednesday night that the government would choose someone new as BCB president. Faruque Ahmed was also asked to resign. But the next day, former national team captain Faruque made it clear that he would not resign. 

The Ministry of Youth and Sports continued its efforts and rejected Faruque's nomination and chose another former captain, Aminul Islam Bulbul. Aminul was first elected BCB director and later president by the Board of Directors.

The Youth and Sports Adviser said this at a program on Saturday.

Everything changed in a sudden storm of 48 hours. After the change of government 9 months ago, the Ministry of Youth and Sports chose Faruque Ahmed. His term was until the August election. However, no one concerned has given an answer why he was removed two months before the end of his term, the adviser said.

“I'm not a sports person. I spoke to many people and everyone said that he will run well, finally board members selected him. From the BPL to other matches and overall cricket, performance was not well”, added Asif.
