A blessing in disguise

Life is interplay of light and shade where sometimes light comes and sometimes darkness descends. Now a days, the world is facing the darkness named coronavirus. Corona is a Latin word which means crown. Aureola is another meaning of corona because it has protein coating looks like thorny. There are so many regrets or griefs with corona. Pandemic death, economic sluggishness, route to famine and so on. Let’s talk about some hope. The coronavirus has incited a lot of changes in last couple of months throughout the world. Entire cities are shut down, public transports are nearly stopped, public places are desolated, much of life activities come to a standstill. Do you find something on this? Yes! The total nature is taking rest. Everything needs to take rest. So why not she! Now the earth has got a chance to breathe, to revitalize. Need to tell about some facts in recent time, the world has to face long floods in Florida, wildfires across Australia, deadly heat waves in Europe but now due to corona, our climate has a chance to reform. The average number of good quality of air is increasing. Satellite images show that the cloud of toxic gases that was once visible above industrial powerhouse had nearly disappointed. As we all know China with other developed countries contribute most of the percentage of emissions of greenhouse gases. But after the corona effect, the emission of greenhouse gases falls down. Our water or environment can get rid of mountains of waste which can be produced from industries at this time. Now we have seen the dolphin playing in the Bay of Bengal and Sagor lata flower in the sea coastal area which is very uncommon.  The world is reviving, the nature is reviving. Corona also brings people into the same umbrella of humanity. Many solvent people come forward to help the unprivileged who are now in trouble to maintain their daily life. Due to corona, human beings are now more conscious about their health, their family bonding and their religion. These are all the positive sides. So in some senses,  corona is a blessing in disguise. But now we have to be patient and careful about this pandemic. It is high time we quarantined ourselves and maintained all the regulations to avoid this pandemic disease. Our Rabindronath Tagore was right to say in Chaytali:

               “Give back the forests

                Take back the cities”

Writer: Md Abu Taher Khan, assistant revenue officer, NBR.
