The 67th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), an annual event was held by the UN in New York to commemorate March 8, International Women’s Day.

The organization co-hosted 2 Side Events, each with the Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare of South Sudan and the Ministry of Women, Family and Children of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire to discuss policies on women empowerment and women’s rights.

The event was on “Digital Literacy and Peace Education for Women and Girls.”

On March 10, a Side Event co-hosted by IWPG and the Ministry of Women, Family and Children of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire was held at UN Conference Room B. The theme is “Development of education in the digital age for the empowerment of all women and girls: The case of peace education.”

IWPG’s NGO Parallel Event took place at the UN Church Center on the theme of “Peace Education in the digital age for innovation, technological change, and gender equality. Expanding empowerment in education of all women and girls.”

IWPG Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon along with many other speakers presented good examples of women’s peace education in each country, women empowerment in the digital era, and expansion of education opportunities while sharing their thoughts on the potential of peace education.

IWPG, an international NGO with special consultative status from the UN Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC), is working towards its main vision of passing down a world of peace as a legacy to the future generation. To this end, IWPG has been conducting women’s peace education since 2018, and 80,000 members from 74 countries have taken the education so far. Through this year’s 67th UN CSW, IWPG suggests a new direction for women’s peace education in the online era and the role of women in this process.
