Nomination being given based on popularity: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the ruling Awami League is selecting candidates based on popularity for the 7 January national election.
The Awami League general secretary said this while talking to journalists at the party president’s Dhanmondi office in the city on Saturday noon.
Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain and Publicity and Publication Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap were also present.
To select the final candidates for the upcoming national election who will run under the boat symbol, the ruling Awami League is selecting those who are popular. If old candidates who have lost their popularity, in this regard, we are choosing new candidates, he said.
We are giving emphasis that who are electable candidates, he said.
Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina is the chairman of 14-party alliance. We did not take any decision on the alliance. We will take a decision seeing the situation of opposition alliance, said Obaidul Quader.
