Govt looking into BUET incident: Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the investigation into the incident of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is underway.

He said this while holding an exchange meeting with Awami League leaders of the Chittagong Division at the Dhaka district Awami League office at Tejgaon in the capital Sunday (March 31).

Quader said, “We are looking into the BUET incident. We are concerned about any attempts to turn BUET into a breeding ground for apolitical militancy in the name of curbing student politics on the campus, and we are investigating to foil such attempts. If any evidence of this nature is found, the government will go for taking action.”

In reply to a question of journalists, he said, “There was no political programme on the BUET campus on that day. What kind of law it is that I can’t go to BUET for doing politics? What kind of rule it is?”
