“Govt knows nothing about VAT on metro rail tickets”

Regarding the imposition of a 15% VAT on metro rail tickets with effect from 1 July Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, "Who suddenly announced such a thing? We don't know anything about it."

The minister said this while addressing an Iftar and Eid gifts distribution programme organised by the party's front Matshjeeby League at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka on Friday (April 5).

He said that the government is very strict about the armed activities of Chattogram Hill Tracts. A joint operation is going there. The situation will calm down soon.

Today we are struggling to cope with the ongoing situation. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to deal with the situation, he added.

Matshjeeby League president Saidur Rahman presided over the program where Awami League publicity and publication secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap and others attended.
