Upazila polls: BNP expels 52 more leaders

BNP has expelled 52 more grassroots leaders for participating in the third phase of the upcoming Upazila Parishad Elections, violating the party decision.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi confirmed the information in a press release issued on Thursday (May 16).

According to the press release, these punitive measures were taken in line with the party’s constitution.

It said the 52 leaders of BNP and its associate bodies contesting for the posts of chairman, vice chairman, and female vice chairman in the third phase of upazila polls in violation of the party’s decision have been expelled from all party positions, including its primary membership.

Earlier, the party expelled 82 and 64 leaders for participating in the first and second phase of the upcoming Upazila Parishad Elections respectively, violating the party decision.
