‘Benazir will have to return to country if found guilty’

Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed will have to return to the country if he is found guilty of corruption.

“Trial will continue even if Benazir Ahmed accused of corruption is abroad. He must return to the country if he is found guilty. The government will not spare him,” he said while addressing a press conference at the political office of the AL president in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Sunday (June 2).

The AL general secretary said, “The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating the matter of Benazir Ahmed. It’s a legal process. The government cannot do anything going outside the system.”
