Govt set to ban Jamaat-Shibir, gazette notification likely

The government is going to ban Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir for their alleged involvement in anti-state activities.
A notification will be issued from the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs at any time in this regard.
The government took the decision after a discussion with the Home Minister, Law Minister and seven State Ministers and recommendation of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance on Tuesday. So, the party will be banned by executive order.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Law Minister Anisul Huq said that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir will be banned under an executive order from the government.
He said if this party is banned, law and order and the politics of the country will also improve a lot.
