Supporters of Ishraque to besiege Nagar Bhaban on Monday

Supporters of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain have announced a plan to besiege the Nagar Bhaban demanding the swearing-in of him as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.

During an ongoing sit-in outside Nagar Bhaban, Mashiur Rahman, a former secretary and supporter of Ishraque made the announcement on Sunday (May 18).

He said that a complete blockade program will be observed in Nagar Bhaban and surrounding areas from 11 am on Monday.

Earlier, the fourth straight day of protests began at 9am on Sunday, with demonstrators occupying the main gate and the road surrounding Nagar Bhaban. Protesters chanted slogans demanding that Ishraque be installed as mayor and voiced anger at Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.
