National election must be held within December: Tarique

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that a tussle over the election has started. The upcoming national election must be held by December.

The top BNP leader said this virtually while addressing a rally jointly organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and Swechchhasebak Dal in front of the BNP's central office at Nayapaltan in the capital on Wednesday (May 28).

He said, "The people are the main source of BNP's power. Even if it is not in power, BNP always thinks about the development of the people."

Tarique Rahman said if elected, BNP will work to move the country forward with the people. An electoral government is needed to implement any program.

BNP Standing Committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, and others also spoke at the youth rally, chaired by Nationalist Youth Party President Monayem Munna and moderated by Swechchhasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan and Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
