Barisal MP Hiron laid to rest

J Khan Swapon, BARISAL, Apr 11: Shawkat Hossain Hiron, the ruling party lawmaker and  the former Barisal City Corporation mayor, buried near the grave of his mother at Anjuman-e-Hemayet Uddin Muslim Graveyard in the Barisal city on Friday afternoon.

 

Before buried at the family graveyard, a namaj-e-janaza was held at the Bangabandhu Udyan in the city after Jumma prayers, this noon.

 

His body had been flown to Barisal city by a helicopter on Thursday.

 

Shawkat Hossain Hiron died at Apollo Hospitals Dhaka at 8.30am on Wednesday.

 

Critically ill Shawkat Hossain Hiron was brought back to the country from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on April 3 and put him on life support at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka.

 

On March 22, he suffered a stroke and brain hemorrhage at the Barisal Club.

 

Shawkat Hossain Hiron was elected MP from Barisal-5 constituency in the 10th parliament.

 

The AL leader left behind wife, a son, a daughter, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
