Khaleda Zia hosts Iftar for diplomats

DHAKA, July 17: BNP Chairperson and Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia on Wednesday evening hosted Iftar party for Dhaka-based ambassadors of different countries and representatives of different donor agencies.

The Leader of the Opposition hosted Iftar party in honour of the diplomats at Westin Hotel in Dhaka. It was attended by the ambassadors, high commissioners of different countries, representatives of donor agencies and officials of the embassies.

Besides, former diplomats and eminent citizens joined the Iftar party.

Khaleda Zia exchanged pleasantries with the diplomats. Later, she took Iftar along with US Ambassador Dan W Mozena, UK High Commissioner Robert Gibson, Palestinian Ambassador Shair Mohammad, Saudi Arabian Ambassador Abdullah Al-Bushairy, Italian Ambassador Dr Georgio Guliemino, and BNP Vice-Chairman M Morshed Khan sitting on the same table.

Ambassadors of minimum 40 countries including European Union`s William Hanna, Ambassadors of India, Pakistan, Maldives, Nepal,  Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Australia, Thailand, China, Canada, Germany, Brunei, France, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Morocco, Qatar, Brazil Spain, Turkey, Norway, Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland were present at the Iftar party.

Apart from the, representatives of the World Bank, USAID, JICA. Besides, former Vabgladesg Bank Governor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, former diplomat Shafayetullah Harun, Inam Ahmed Chowdhury, former VC of Dhaka University Dr Moniruzzaman Mia, Gonoshastya Foundation founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Dhaka University`s law teacher Dr Asif Nazrul, sociologist Dr Piyas Karim, economist Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya and Prof Dilara Chowdhury, among others, were present.

 

Moreover, BNP standing committee members Dr RA Ghani, Dr Khondker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman, MK Anwar, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, ASM Hannan Shah, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, Sarwari Rahman, Mirza Abbas, chairperson`s adviser Abdul Awal Minto, Reaz Rahman, Sabihuddin Ahmed, Mir Nasiruddin, BNP chairperson`s international affairs advisory committee convener Shafique Rehman and member secretary Mushfiqul Fajal Ansary attended the Iftar mahfil.
