Dipu Moni accuses BNP of destroying CG

DHAKA, Aug 22: Foreign minister Dipu Moni on Thursday accused Bangladesh Nationalist Party of destroying the caretaker government system.

“Forming own style caretaker government system, they (BNP) had come to power in 2001. Although people had franchise their voting rights in favour Awami League but the result was against the people,” she said while addressing a discussion marking the National Mourning day at Jagannath University in city. 

The foreign minister said after 2006 the BNP-Jamaat alliance had formed the then chief election commissioner Aziz like caretaker government. 

“Awami League doesn’t believe such stage managed election,” Dipu Moni said.

She said BNP is now trying to destroy the present election system.
