AL picks Nayan for Lakshmipur-2 by-polls

The ruling Awami League has picked Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan for the by-poll in Lakshmipur 2 constituency.

The announcement of the names came after a meeting of Bangladesh Awami League’s Local Government Representative Nomination Board, held at Ganobhaban with AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Saturday (March 13).

Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan is the district unit’s General Secretary.

Earlier, the parliamentary seat was declared vacant on February 22, after Kazi Papul was sentenced to jail by a Kuwait court for human trafficking. By-elections to the Laxmipur-2 constituency will be held on April 11.
